He has a constant pulse on the latest industry developments, always exploring the most beneficial opportunities or uncovering niches to expand Take Charge America’s services or educational resources. David is an engaged and hands-on professional, working side-by-side with senior executives to ensure organizational efficiency, resulting in the unparalleled service provided to clients.
Before David was promoted to CEO in 2012, he served as the Chief Financial Officer, overseeing annual budgets, financial reporting and the processing and distribution of monthly payments to creditors .
Prior to joining Take Charge America, David honed his nonprofit leadership skills as the Vice President of Finance and Administration for Planned Parenthood Arizona (PPAZ). In this capacity, he directed the activities of accounting, billing, human resources and information technology areas. Moreover, David was a key player in the creation of PPAZ, serving as the chief financial officer for the two predecessor Planned Parenthood organizations that eventually merged.
Not one to shy away from a challenge, David’s work experience includes numerous other leadership roles in health care and financial services. He served as a controller for a hospice, home health and nursing home entity. He also worked as the Vice President of Finance for a medical personnel agency. His experience includes numerous other financial management positions in Phoenix and Atlanta.
David is a Certified Public Accountant who began his career with Deloitte. He is a member of both the American Institute of CPAs and the Arizona Society of Certified Public Accountants (ASCPA). In addition, David currently serves on the National Foundation for Credit Counseling Advisory Council and the Council on Member Affairs. He has also served on many other national, state and local nonprofit boards, including the Financial Counseling Association of America and the ASCPA.
David earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting and finance from the University of Dayton, and a master’s degree in finance from Georgia State University, Atlanta. Involved in his community both on a professional and personal level, David is a member of the Mountain View Lutheran
