John Fisher - Chief Executive Officer
John Fisher serves as chief executive officer of Take Charge America, where he manages and oversees all operations of the nation-wide non-profit organization. Fisher joined Take Charge America as a full time employee in 2003 after serving six years as a volunteer member of the board of directors. While serving as a volunteer director Fisher was active on several committees including education and business development.
In 2003, Fisher assumed the role of senior vice president and director of business development. In this role, he was responsible for the development of a team to create working partnerships with creditors, employers, credit unions and other organizations. As a member of the executive committee, he also oversaw all strategic and operational processes.
Prior to joining the organization, Fisher had more than 21 years of increasing levels of responsibility in the leasing and municipal finance industry. He held positions with U.S. Leasing, AT&T Capital, Heller Public Finance and La Salle Bank. He also served as a board member and officer of the Association for Governmental Leasing and Finance, acting as chairman for the national association in 1998-1999.
Fisher currently serves as secretary on the board of trustees and officers of the Association of Independent Consumer Credit Counseling Agencies, a national membership organization established to promote quality and consistent delivery of credit counseling services, of which Take Charge America is an active member. He is also active in several sector wide counseling and education initiatives to bring new and better solutions to consumers.
Fisher earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Illinois, where he remains involved with the alumni chapter of the Kappa Sigma fraternity. He continued his education at the University of Chicago, receiving a master’s in business administration.
