Founded in 1987, Take Charge America, Inc. is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization committed to providing financial education and counseling to improve the lives of individuals and families nationwide.

Corporate Officers

David Richardson, CPA, Chief Executive Officer

David Richardson joined Take Charge America in 2008 as Director of Finance and was promoted to Chief Financial Officer in 2009. In 2012, he was appointed to Chief Executive Officer and now oversees all agency operations.

Chris Surman, Director of Client and Creditor Services

Chris Surman joined Take Charge America in 1991 and has the distinction of being with the company longer than any other employee. She has held numerous positions over the years and is currently the Director of Operations.

Carol Lown, Compliance Officer

Carol Lown joined Take Charge America in 1999. She is the Compliance Officer, oversees communications and public relations and serves as the corporate secretary.
